Boulder County crews rescue sick hiker on Mount Sanitas

Jul. 22—Boulder County crews rescued a sick hiker on Mount Sanitas on Thursday.

According to a release, a 44-year-old woman was hiking up the Dakota Ridge Trail at Mount Sanitas when she began feeling ill. When she was unable to stand and walk, she called for help.

Firefighters hiked in and were able to find the sick hiker and began providing medical care.

Because of the hiker's location, the decision was made to evacuate her. Once she was at the trailhead, the hiker was evaluated by paramedics and then transported to a local hospital for further medical care and evaluation.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, and American Medical Response all responded to the call.
