Boulder County investigating break-in at Sugarloaf fire station

Aug. 30—Officials are investigating after someone broke into a Sugarloaf fire station overnight.

According to a Facebook post, the break-in happened sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning at Sugarloaf Fire Station No. 2, 1360 Sugarloaf Road.

"Some distressing news this morning regarding our lower fire station," the post stated. "Someone broke in last night and ransacked our station, storage areas, and apparatus and equipment and other items were stolen. Although we are still trying to piece together exactly what all was taken, we are still fully functional and will be able to respond to our customers' needs. Clean-up is in progress."

The post said the fire department is "working closely with the sheriff's office to resolve this, and we are grateful for their thoroughness and professionalism."
