Boulder County seeks DRCOG grant for Colo. 7 transit service

Oct. 21—Boulder County has applied for a Denver Regional Council of Governments Transportation Improvement Program grant to fund transit service on Colo. 7.

The grant would pay for two years of transit "starter" service between Boulder and Brighton on Colo. 7, providing access to Lafayette, Erie, the city and county of Broomfield, as well as Thornton, with 10 stops along the route.

The service would begin in 2026, and operate on weekdays only for one year, and 7 days per week in 2027 at 30-minute headways, all day. The service would also serve as a precursor to future Bus Rapid Transit service on the Colo. 7 corridor, and will take advantage of transit lanes, transit stations plus other improvements currently in design or under construction along that corridor.

Grant applications are currently being evaluated, and DRCOG staff seeks input to ensure the public's priorities are heard. Boulder County is seeking $6.5 million for the project.
