New boutique opens in Tacoma. It offers colorful, curated clothing and jewelry
A new chic boutique is having its grand opening in Tacoma on Saturday. True Muse Boutique owner Andrea Foster says her vision is to help people find cute, curated and colorful staples that are timeless and fun.
Although you might have been lucky enough to peruse pastel shirts and vibrant pants already after their soft opening April 8, the grand opening starts at 10 a.m. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, complimentary alcoholic refreshments and a pop-up from Golden Flame Permanent Jewelry from noon to 4 p.m. at the 2603 N. Proctor St. location.
Foster founded True Muse Boutique online back in 2019 when she was looking for a brand that was “very colorful, very playful but also all inclusive.”
“I wanted to build a space that was energetic and welcoming. We want everybody to feel like they can shop here,” she said. “We’re slowly building up into 3X [sizes]. I like to say beautiful things are for everybody.”
Rather than overwhelm the eye, Foster plans to drop small, curated collections of clothing and jewelry each month, refreshing the inventory biweekly.
This season’s colors are emerald green, viva magenta, soft natural-looking greens and baby blue, Foster said. As the summer transitions into early fall, expect to see some vibrant hot orange-colored clothing, too.
Foster said as someone who was born and raised in South Carolina, a splash of color is something Proctor needed.
“Out in the South, we’re not afraid of color. We’ll put paisleys and plaids together, color is just a way of life out there,” Foster said. “Getting out to the Pacific Northwest, like, people are craving color, too, out here. This is the perfect opportunity to build the space that I’ve been wanting to build and still add value to the community.”
Foster said she’s been in the retail industry since she was 15 years old, and worked as a buyer for a department store in the Southeast. She also works as a vendor for another consumer product goods company, so she knows her way around the industry and has an eye for building relationships with reputable clothing brands.
When curating clothing, color is a big inspiration for her collections, Foster said.
“I just want to make sure that people know that we’re a store that’s here for everybody and here to make shopping fun,” she said. “It’s supposed to be really good quality, like beautiful things. Our tagline is: it’s the vibrant approach to the staple wardrobe.”
