Bowman County teams crack Top 10 in NDAPSSA Class B poll

Jan. 31—Bowman County, N.D. — The latest North Dakota Class B Basketball Polls were released by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association on Monday, Jan. 30, 2022. The Bowman County boys and girls basketball teams both received recognition in the polls, garnering top 10 positions out of the 100 Class B teams in the state.

Ronnie Stewart's Bowman County boys basketball team came in at number 10, receiving 15 total votes. The team is led by Stewart, Assistant coaches Mike Criswell and Erick Egan, and Tenley Walker. The boys have a solid 11-2 overall record, with notable wins against:

* Glen Ullin/Hebron (72-49)

* Richardton-Taylor (78-24)

* Beach (58-52)

* Lemmon (57-20)

* Grant County/Mott-Regent (74-51)

The boys only losses have come against Dickinson Trinity in a narrow single point pairing (49-50), and against Hazen in a game decided by a single basket (60-62). In the Region 7 standings, the Bulldogs are ranked third with a 4-1 record.

Jaci Mrnak's Bulldog girls are ranked 9th in the latest polls, receiving 33 total votes. With a 15-1 overall record, the team has had notable wins against:

* Harding County (57-50)

* Killdeer (67-46)

* Richardton-Taylor (68-50)

* Faith (61-48)

The Lady Bulldogs have lost only a single game all season, against Central McLean (48-63) in a surprising blowout courtesy of a teachable lack of concentration, but have rebounded to remain perfect the remainder of their appearances on the season.

In the Girls Region 7 standings, Bowman County sits comfortably atop the mountain with a perfect 6-0 record and appears poised to make a deep run in the state tournament.
