Boy, 17, charged with murder in Camden slaying

The victim, another Camden teenager, had been fatally shot.

A 17-year-old boy was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death last month of another teen in Camden, prosecutors said Friday.

The boy, whose name was not released, is accused of killing Shapaul Johnson. Johnson, 18, was found shot in the area of the 1000 block of Thurman Street on the evening of May 18. The victim was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:35 a.m. the next day.

The suspect, who is being held at the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center, and the victim both lived in Camden.

Prosecutors did not release any further details about the shooting.
