Boy, 9, fatally struck on Brooklyn sidewalk by SUV driver turning into driveway

A 9-year-old boy was fatally struck on a Brooklyn sidewalk by an SUV driver turning into a driveway, cops said Sunday.

Young An Li was less than a half-mile from his Sheepshead Bay home when the driver of a 2020 Nissan Murano hit him on the sidewalk at E. 12th St. and Sheepshead Bay Road about 2:35 p.m. Friday, cops said.

The 35-year-old Nissan driver was going south on E. 12th St. and struck Young as she made a left turn into a driveway, cops said. She stayed at the scene and faced no immediate charges.

The driver is a nurse who was turning into her home’s driveway, neighbors said.

Medics took the boy to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition, but he suffered medical complications as a result of the collision and died at the hospital, cops said.
