It's a boy! Meet the first baby of 2023 born at Ashland County's UH Samaritan

ASHLAND − While many toasted the new year over the weekend, some spent the first days of 2023 in the hospital awaiting the arrival of the newest member of the family.

This was true for Jensen Switzer and Nathan Fields, who welcomed their newborn baby boy at 5:05 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2, at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.

Named Danny James Fields, he weighed in at 8 pounds 4 ounces and measured 21-inches tall, according to the hospital.

Celebrating one of their own

Jensen Switzer is an employee at UH Samaritan working in environmental services maintaining the labor and delivery unit, according to the hospital.

So, when she went into labor, she was surrounded by her friends and coworkers.

"Everyone knew her and was excited for her!" wrote Carly Belsterling, a media relations strategist for UH.

Danny is the newest addition to Ashland County, which has a growing population of 52,447, according to the 2020 U.S. Census.
