Boy surprised with trip to New York City during Polka Dots parade

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A boy celebrating Carnival Season at the Order of Polka Dots parade Thursday received the surprise of a lifetime.

Robert, the boy, and his family were attending the Polka Dots parade in downtown Mobile when one of the organization members aboard a float flashed a big white sign.

It read, “Robert, you’re going to NYC!”

According to members of Magic Moments, that OOP member is also a member of the group whose mission, its website states, is “to grant non-medical magic moments to children ages 4-18 with chronic life-threatening or acute life-threatening conditions, who live or receive treatment in the state of Alabama…”

Robert will be heading to New York City for Spring Break.

He will visit the Empire State Building, the American Museum of National History, where the movie “Night at the Museum” was filmed, and he will see “The Lion King” Broadway show.
