Boyne City Harvest Fest returns this weekend: Games, music, scarecrows and more

BOYNE CITY — The Boyne City Harvest Festival is back this Saturday, Sept. 24 in downtown Boyne City from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

According to Boyne City Main Street Executive Director Jordan Peck, there will be more than 60 vendors from across Northern Michigan featured at the event, ranging from farmers market produce to crafts.

The event is free to attend, and many of the activities at the festival are free as well.

There is an area at the fair where children will be able to pick up pumpkins and paint them for free, as well as other games set up throughout the street for kids.

There will be six artists performing throughout the day providing music at the event, Peck said. Black Diamond Broadcasting will be at the event broadcasting live as well.

Different nonprofits will be setting up booths at the event where there will be additional games for people as well.

This year, there will also be a scarecrow contest for businesses to participate in. A group of judges will determine what they think is the best scarecrow, and the winner will be announced at the festival.

Peck said this event serves as the kickoff to fall, showcasing “what’s to come” throughout the scenic Northern Michigan fall.

Having been around since 1995, Peck said he thinks people keep coming back to the event because they want to experience the community of Boyne City.

“There's a good reason why people keep coming back for the different events that we host throughout the course of the year — and I think that is that we have a community worth boasting about,” Peck said.
