Boys basketball: Freshman Cooper Davenport hits six 3-pointers in Henderson County's win

HENDERSON, Ky. -- Freshman Cooper Davenport hit six 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead Henderson County to an 85-29 win over Heritage Christian Academy in Saturday's season opener.

Davenport provided half of the Colonels' 12 3-pointers in the contest as five other players also knocked down 3-point shots for Henderson County.

Gerard Thomas, the team's only returning starter, scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Damarius Dixon added 12 points. Jake Rideout came off the bench to collect a team-high eight boards.

Heritage Christian, which is in its first year of its transition into the KHSAA, was led by Matt Willis' 12 points.

Henderson County outscored the Warriors 36-13 in the second quarter and led 55-17 at the half. The entire second half was played with a running clock.

The Colonels will visit Dawson Springs (1-3) Monday at 7:30 p.m.
