MORENCI – Carson Brown has been working with the greatest 3-point shooter in Monroe County Region history.

The lessons appear to be taking root.

Brown, who has been getting tips from Eagle grad Joey Liedel in practice, drained nine 3-point baskets Tuesday night and scored a career-high 37 points.

Brown drilled five 3-pointers and scored 19 points in the third quarter when Mason blew the game open.

“Alex Langenderfer and Casey Brown found Carson repeatedly in transition which fueled the third-quarter run,” said Mason coach Kevin Skaggs.

Langenderfer added 14 points and Jackson Iocoangeli 10.

Mason won the junior varsity game 41-28 as Logan Goodin scored 14 points.

The record coming into this season was 12-for-12 by Matt Kohler, then Hollinger went 15-for-15 against Tecumseh.

“He is in rare air right now as far as free-throw shooters I’ve coached,” Bedford coach Jordan Bollin said.

Hollinger also notched 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Simon Eighmey and Griffin Wolf added 18 points apiece, and Evan Campbell scored 12.

Both teams shot lights out in the first quarter with Skyline taking a slim 27-23 lead. Bedford closed to within a single point by halftime and then held Skyline to just 20 points in the second half to pull away.

It was a big win for the Mules, who improved to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the Southeastern Conference Red.

"They are arguably the most talented team in the league," Bollin said of Skyline.
