Boys basketball roundup: Grand Ledge, St. Johns, Portland St. Patrick win on buzzer-beaters

GRAND LEDGE 56, HASLETT 53

GRAND LEDGE — Caleb Estrada made six 3-pointers, including one from 30 feet out at the buzzer, to lift the Comets (15-7) past Haslett (6-16) in boys basketball action on Thursday. Estrada had 20 points to lead Grand Ledge, which was missing a few players due to illness. Daymon Ware and Braden James each added 13 points for the Comets.

ST. JOHNS 59, CORUNNA 58

CORUNNA — Landen Mikula's buzzer-beating 3 lifted the Redwings (12-8) to a win over Corunna (16-6). Carson Pieters led St. Johns with 24 points.

PORTLAND ST. PATRICK 52, FOWLER 50

PORTLAND -- Charlie Thelen hit the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to give the Shamrocks a CMAC victory over Fowler (12-9, 8-6). Jerryd Scheurer scored a team-high 18 points, Brayden Simon finished with 15 points and Thelen tacked on 13 points for Portland St. Patrick (6-14, 4-10).

EAST LANSING 60, SEXTON 57

Cameron Hutson led all scorers with 30 points as East Lansing was able to hold off Sexton for a nonleague win to close the regular season. Evan Boyd picked up 14 points and Christian Dunn tallied nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Trojans (12-9). Dai’John Chandler scored a team-high 17 points, Keyshawn Summerville picked up 15 points and Devon Hodges chipped in 14 points for the J-Dubbs (12-9).

LAINGSBURG 63, CLIO 20

LAINGSBURG -- Eli Woodruff and Zander Woodruff each picked up a team-high 19 points to help the Wolfpack complete their undefeated season with a victory over Clio (4-17). Luke Snyder tacked on eight points for Laingsburg (21-0).

HOLT 76, LANSING CATHOLIC 56

Carter Bishop finished with 15 points and set a single-season record for made 3s with 57 while helping the Rams (13-9) to a nonleague road win over Lansing Catholic. Isaiah Foster had 27 points and seven assists and Donye Thomas finished with 22 points for Holt. Dean Jacobs had 14 points and Jack Jacobs added 11 points for Lansing Catholic (7-14).

WAVERLY 86, BATTLE CREEK HARPER CREEK 47

DELTA TWP. -- Nasaan Jackson finished with a team-high 14 points to lead the Warriors to a nonleague win over Battle Creek Harper Creek (8-14). Darrius Welch scored 13 points, Deunte Phifer finished with 12 points and three steals, Trey Miller tallied 11 points and eight rebounds and Keenan Harris chipped in nine points for the Warriors (17-5). OLIVET — The Division 2 No. 3-ranked Eagles bounced back from their first loss of the season with a nonleague win over Hastings. Bryce Wine had 13 points and three steals and Brayden Wine added 10 points, three steals and three blocks for Olivet (21-1).

OKEMOS 68, EASTERN 43

Trevor Smith notched 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help the Wolves secure a nonleague road win over Eastern. Collin Alexander finished with 11 points and three assists and Christian Chiou and Logan Davis each dished out four assists for Okemos (18-4). Dontrel Crusoe scored a team-high 11 points for the Quakers (10-11). JV score: Okemos 79, Eastern 58

MASON 56, PORTLAND 45

MASON -- Kaleb Parrish notched a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds to help the Bulldogs close out the regular season with a nonleague victory over Portland. Austin Stone tallied 16 points and hauled in 10 rebounds and Levi Stambuagh tacked on 14 points for Mason (20-2). Dominic Novara led all scorers with 18 points and Evan Gross chipped in 12 points for the Raiders (9-11). JV score: Portland 47, Mason 45

LESLIE 60, BROOKLYN COLUMBIA CENTRAL 56

BROOKLYN -- Kaleb Cox led the Blackhawks with a team-high 17 points as Leslie picked up a nonleague road win over Brooklyn Columbia Central (8-14). Zack Marciniak finished with 12 points and Jared Peck added on nine points for Leslie (16-6).

LAKEWOOD 55, MIDDLEVILLE THORNAPPLE KELLOGG 53 (OT)

LAKE ODESSA -- Jayce Cusack picked up a team-high 28 points to help the Vikings outlast Middleville Thornapple Kellogg (2-20) for a nonleague overtime victory. Blake Price finished with 10 points and Montreal Reid and Eli Jablonski each added on four points for Lakewood (12-10).

PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 62, POTTERVILLE 47

POTTERVILLE -- Jamison Eklund led all scorers with 21 points as the Pirates secured a CMAC road win over Potterville. Grady Eklund picked up 16 points and Luke Smith finished with 14 points for Pewamo-Westphalia (15-6, 11-2). Jonah Bovee scored a team-high 16 points, Kaleb Batterham tallied 10 points and Chris Hicks added on seven points for the Vikings (10-12, 6-8).

BATH 64, SARANAC 26

SARANAC -- DeVondre Chandler tallied a team-high 15 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals to lead the Bees to a CMAC win over Saranac. Remington McCrimmon notched 13 points and five rebounds, Jacob Kuhn scored 10 points and Bradlee Uhlmann chipped in nine points and six rebounds for Bath (7-13, 5-8). Isaiah Morgan tallied seven points and Lucas Hetherington added on five points for the Red Hawks (4-18, 0-14).

OVID-ELSIE 74, EATON RAPIDS 59

ELSIE -- Clay Wittenberg led the Marauders with 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists as Ovid-Elsie closed out the regular season with a victory over Eaton Rapids (0-22). Logan Thompson notched 21 points, four rebounds and three steals, Braxton Stenger tallied 12 points, seven steals and six assists and Tryce Tokar added on six points for Ovid-Elsie (17-4).

LANSING CHRISTIAN 70, NOVI CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 54

Benji Sambaer led the Pilgrims with 19 points as Lansing Christian finished the regular season with a nonleague win over Novi Christian Academy (15-7). Tim Sullivan notched 13 points and Ethan Damesworth chipped in 10 points for Lansing Christian (13-9).

ALMA 60, CHESANING 52

CHESANING — The Panthers outscored Chesaning 16-6 in the final quarter while picking up the nonleague win. Sam Rosales made five 3-pointers while scoring 26 points and went 8-for-8 from the free-throw line in the final quarter for Alma. Cade Sutherland had 12 points and Owen Seeley scored 10 points for the Panthers (12-9).

JACKSON NORTHWEST 70, CHARLOTTE 61

CHARLOTTE — Cutler Brandt had 16 points to lead the CAAC White champion Orioles in their nonleague loss. Braden Hill had 12 points, Maliki Garza scored 11 points and Caleb Hull added 10 points for Charlotte (15-7).

PARMA WESTERN 54, FOWLERVILLE 41

FOWLERVILLE -- Brendan Ray scored a team-high 15 points for the Gladiators in a nonleague loss to Parma Western (8-13). Wyatt Soli tacked on 12 points for Fowlerville (3-17).

SWARTZ CREEK 55, OWOSSO 27

SWARTZ CREEK -- Andrew Lewis picked up a team-high 11 points for the Trojans in a road defeat against Swartz Creek (8-14). Jack Litner added on five points for Owosso (0-21).
