Boys basketball roundup: Willmar snags CLC win over St. Cloud Tech

Feb. 27—WILLMAR — The Willmar boys basketball team got its first Central Lakes Conference win since Jan. 13 with a 77-74 victory over St. Cloud Tech on Saturday at the Big Red Gym at Willmar High School.

Blake Schoolmeester and Abdihamid Abdullahi helped lead a Cardinal offense that shot 52 percent from the field. Schoolmeester had a team-high 21 points along with six rebounds. Abdullahi added 19 points on 7 of 9 shooting to go with three assists. Sam Raitz chipped in with 10 points, Cade Roelofs had nine points and 10 rebounds, and Cayden Hansen dished out eight assists in the victory.

The Tigers' Donald Ferguson scored a game-high 28 points. Tameron Ferguson tallied 16 points for Tech.

Willmar faces St. Cloud Apollo at 7:15 p.m. Monday at St. Cloud.

In a tune-up before the Camden Conference championship, Central Minnesota Christian cruised to victory against Yellow Medicine East at Prinsburg.

The Bluejays are the Camden North champions and face South champion Tracy-Milroy-Balaton at 7 p.m. Monday at Prinsburg.

Case Mulder led a trio of CMCS players in double figures with 27 points. Ethan Bulthuis added 21 points. Caleb Vander Beek had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Bryce Sneller led the Sting with 13 points and six boards. Nikson Knapper hit three 3-pointers in an 11-point effort.

YME is the No. 10 seed in the Section 3A-North tournament and takes on No. 7 MACCRAY in a pigtail game at 7 p.m. Thursday in Clara City.

Already up 10 at halftime, Pipestone outscored Minnewaska 37-22 in the second half for a non-conference win at Pipestone.

The Arrows' Jaden Lorang led all scorers with 16 points. Kaden Musch added 14 points in the victory.

Ethan Quelle (13) and Hunter Kostelecky (11) each finished in double figures for the Lakers.

Minnewaska concludes the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Benson.
