Boys & Girls Club of Door County to merge with Green Bay Club

STURGEON BAY - The Boys & Girls Club of Door County announced Friday will merge with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay on March 1.

This past summer the Door County Club, 55 S. Third Ave., Sturgeon Bay, had agreed to let Green Bay provide support for some administrative functions. By fully integrating, the Clubs say they should be able to provide more efficient and cost-effective management, reduce overhead and enable more resources to be provided.

“While we believe strongly in the power of coming together, great care is being taken to ensure that both Clubs remain connected to their respective communities,” said Erich Pfiefer, Board Chair for the Boys & Girls Club of Door County, in a statement. “These are organizations with long standing histories that serve unique communities, and it is vital that this remains at the forefront of our work. … We are committed to providing the same high-quality service that has been the hallmark of both organizations for decades.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay already includes the Boys & Girls Club of Shawano.

The merger will not result in locations closing or the loss of staff and management personnel, the Clubs say.

Each Club will retain their name and branding in their local community, while a name is being determined for the new regional corporation.

The combined organization will become one of the region’s largest youth development agencies serving more than 3,000 youth annually.

“We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with Door County," Lisa Kogan-Praska, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay, said. "The service they provide to youth and families in their community is unsurpassed. By coming together, our Clubs can share resources and strengthen our foundations to serve even more kids across a broader region. We believe in the power of partnership and are excited to achieve greater impact, together.”
