Boys Golf: Hillsdale Academy marches to the SCAA championship with another jamboree win

HILLSDALE — The Hillsdale Academy Colts and the rest of the SCAA returned to the Hills of Baw Beese for the third SCAA jamboree of the boys golf season. It’s been a back-and-forth slugfest between Hillsdale Academy and Lenawee Christian each week of conference play. Hillsdale sophomore Rykert Frisinger and Lenawee Christian golfer Brogan Winder have traded top three spots for most of their events this season. That battle would continue on the Baw Beese golf course, with Hillsdale Academy coming through for their third jamboree win of the season.

The Colts finished with a final score total of 180, their second-best showing of the season. Lenawee Christian took second place with a total score of 184. Hillsdale Academy now leads Lenawee Christian by two points in the current SCAA standings.

Rykert Frisinger finished with a shot total of 36, a season high for the sophomore and his third individual win of the season. Frisinger shot par on six of the nine holes and birdied hole 8 on par five. Brogan Winder of Lenawee Christian took second with a final total of 40. For the Academy, sophomore Ridley Fast continued his recent success with a 46 final shot total. Fast sank a birdie on hole 5, a challenging par-four. Kahle Welden had one of the best rounds of his individual season, shooting a 48. Grayson McArthur shot a 50 with a par on hole 9. Senior Bennett Fast shot 52 and senior Jake Waldvogel had a final score of 53.

Will Carleton Academy shot a final total of 228. Freshman Tyler Slade led the field with a 49 final score. Freshman Will Thielen shot a 59; freshman Thomas Maier shot a 60; Maxwell Thielen shot a 60; Caleb Bostic shot a 61 and Benjamin Lutz shot a 68. Slade medaled with a top 10 finish.

With the golf season ending soon, the SCAA will have one more league jamboree this season. The SCAA finals will be held on May 23 at the Cedar Lake golf course. The event will begin around 9 a.m.
