The Boys' Jack Quaid lands next lead movie role

The Boys actor Jack Quaid has signed on for his next project, the new sci-fi thriller Companion.

Companion is backed by the team behind last year's horror flick Barbarian.

Reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Zach Cregger is producing Companion. He wrote and directed Barbarian, which starred Bill Skarsgård, Georgina Campbell and Justin Long.

Not much else is known about the project, but producing along with Cregger are Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz of BoulderLight Pictures and horror expert Roy Lee of Vertigo.

Lee has worked on popular horror films such as Doctor Sleep, The Ring and The Grudge.

Companion has its script by Drew Hancock, who will also be making his directorial debut with the movie.

Quaid is best known for his role as Hughie Campbell in The Boys, an (initially) powerless man in a world of superheroes.

He is also one of the voice actors in the Paramount+ animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Fans will soon hear him in new animated series My Adventures with Superman, which is described as "a serialised coming-of-age story catching up with twenty-somethings Clark Kent, the bright and driven Lois Lane."

It goes on to say that the iconic duo will be joined by "their best friend Jimmy Olsen as they begin to discover who they are and everything they can accomplish together as an investigative reporting team at the Daily Planet."

Quaid will also soon be on the big screen alongside Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, and Emily Blunt in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, which lands this summer.

The Boys seasons 1-3 are streaming on Prime Video. Season 4 is in production.
