Litchfield 53 - Jackson Prep 46

The Terriers of Litchfield had a hard-fought battle with Jackson Prep on Tuesday night. Their win involved making a strong comeback at the end of the game with a 22-point fourth quarter. The Terriers fell behind 7-14 in the first quarter. The Terriers still trailed 25-19 heading into the halftime break. The Terriers would make up some ground in the third, closing in on the Jackson Prep lead 31-35.

Foul trouble for Jackson Prep would help save the day for the Terrier. 10 of their 22 points in that quarter came from the free throw line. Three-point ace Junior Alvarez knocked down two from the arc to earn 15 points. Tyler Bills also knocked down two three-pointers for the Terriers, earning 13 total points. Logan Buehrle had nine points. Ricky McCafferty had four points. Miguel Pedroza had two points and Brandon Capmbell had two points. Simon Collins had eight points and 12 rebounds.

Coach and assistant A.D. Joey Collins said that the team wasn't able to find a rhythm offensively in the first half. Buehrle got in foul trouble early and had to sit most of the first half. McCafferty had an impressive showing for the Terriers, coming in off the bench and playing extended minutes for the Terriers.

"The last two quarters we finally started getting some good looks at the basket and played much better defense after switching to a 3-2 zone," said Collins.

Collins believes the change in schedule played an effect on the game. Collins said the team is prepared to meet up before their Thursday contest to get extra prep before game time.

They will play Pittsford on the road on Dec. 22. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Pittsford 55 - Tekonsha 34

Head coach Mike Burger and the Wildcats had a week off before getting back on the court against a strong rival SCAA foe in Tekonsha. The Wildcats forced Tekonsha to play from behind, causing chaos in the Tekonsha offense. More than two dozen turnovers and limited clean looks were the final nails in the coffin for Tekonsha in their first game.

The Wildcat defense clogged up lanes and gave their offense a much-needed boost. Senior Kade Spahr distributed the basketball to his teammates all over the court, and he also put up 14 points of his own. Mason Payne hit two threes to help himself earn nine points. Lane Lewis scored six points. Bryce Williams scored six points. Gavyn Carden had five points. Gage Gore and Pat VanDusen each had four points.

It wasn't a perfect game offensively for the Wildcats, but their 3-0 start to the season gives the team plenty of momentum when they face County rival Pittsford this Thursday night at home. The game starts at 6:00 p.m. After that game, WCA will meet the Pittsford Wildcats at the Pat Paterson tournament.
