Boys soccer: Our 2022 all-state team

Dec. 16—Across the Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont areas, 32 boys soccer players made the Colorado High School Activities Association's all-state team.

Five players were named to the Class 5A first team, including Daily Camera player of the year Cameron Gerber of Boulder. Niwot's Josh Ary, the Longmont Times-Call player of the year, was the lone 4A first teamer.

Class 5A

Fairview, the runner-up team in the classification, led the area with six players on the 5A list. Two made the first team, including goalie sensation Shane Williams, who made 258 saves in the fall and was the anchor to the Knights' run to the state title game.

Junior defender Cole Hamilton also made first team for the Knights, while sophomore forward Nolan Kelly was on the second team. Seniors Kai Bodmer, Joseph Lee and junior Tate Ruzzin were named honorable mentions.

Legacy, the Front Range League champs and No. 1 seed in the postseason, had four on the list. Last year's BoCoPreps.com player of the year Cooper Stephens was named first team after netting 18 goals and seven assists. Senior defenders Tate Hansen and Parker Katz were second team and junior midfielder Lucas Montera was an honorable mention.

Broomfield also had four on the list, led by Cooper Johnson and his 11 goals and 14 assists from the fall. Junior Marcus Von was named to the second team and sophomore Cole Martin and junior Elijah Smith were honorable mentions.

Boulder had three, including Maryland commit Gerber. The senior played in the High School All-American Game last weekend and was named an All-American by the United Soccer Coaches earlier this month.

Keeper Owen Kalisher was an honorable mention for the Panthers alongside sophomore forward/midfielder Xander Sevian.

Class 4A

Niwot, the Longs Peak League champs and state quarterfinalist, had four players named to the all-state list. Junior defender Ary was placed on the first team after his strong play on the backline. Keeper Matthew Hansen was second team, and juniors Javier Alvira and Usiel Franco Cruz were honorable mentions.

Left off the list was a talented group from Skyline, which was runner-up in the LPL and made the second round of the postseason. Junior Brian Heredia had 13 goals.

Also not making the list were the area players from the Northern Colorado Athletic Conference.

Centaurus' Conrad Haraf was the NCAC player of the year after leading the Warriors to a league title.

Mead's Ian Faussett was a NCAC first teamer after scoring a league-leading 17 goals, and he and teammate Dalton Berg each led the league with 45 points.

Silver Creek defender Grant Gaddis, also first team in league, helped lead the Raptors to a postseason win. Longmont and Holy Family also had first-team league players.

Class 3A

Peak to Peak, the 3A runner-up, tied Fairview with six players on the list. Junior midfielders Jorden Gyaltsen and Matthew Wolosko made first team, defender Eddie Castilleja and Ethan Wang second team, and Jack Farhar and Logan Hughes were honorable mentions.

Jefferson Academy, which lost to the Pumas in the quarterfinals, had three players on the first team. Chrisly Kelly led the area with 22 goals and was joined by Logan Johnson and Jonah Elstad.

Prospect Ridge Academy goalie Cole McLemore was also an honorable mention.

Class 2A

Twin Peaks junior forward Yannis Diby made the honorable mention list after scoring six goals.
