Boys soccer: Astoria's Wienecke named Goalkeeper of the Year
Nov. 15—League champion Scappoose placed eight players on the 2022 Cowapa all-league boys soccer team, as voted on by the league's coaches. Runner-up Tillamook had seven selections, while Astoria and Seaside had a combined 11 players on the 31-player all-league squad.
Scappoose had the league's Player of the Year (senior Paul Parral) and Coach of the Year (Scott Stanton), with Astoria junior Salvador Wienecke earning the Cowapa's Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
Eight of the Astoria and Seaside selections will be returning in 2023.
