Boys soccer: Check out where our Section 9 champs are playing in states
The New York State public school tournament gets underway this week, with quarterfinals at the end of the week and the Final Four held at Middletown High School, Monroe-Woodbury High School and Goshen High School on Nov. 12 and 13.
The five Section 9 champions were Warwick (Class AA), Beacon (Class A), Our Lady of Lourdes (Class B), Rhinebeck (Class C), Chapel Field (Class D).
Warwick (Class AA), Wallkill (Class A), Red Hook (Class B), Rhinebeck (Class C) and Chapel Field (Class D) were the No. 1 seeds in sectionals.

First round / sub-regional
Wednesday, Nov. 2
Corning-Painted Post 2, Warwick 1, at Maine-Endwell High School; Kojo Adjei scored off an assist from Anthony Numssen for Warwick, before Corning-Painted Post scored on a breakaway and penalty kick goal. Corning-Painted Post (Section 4) faces Scarsdale (Section 1) on Nov. 5 at 11:30 a.m. at Yorktown High School.

Wednesday, Nov. 2
Beacon 1, Vestal 0 at Maine-Endwell High School; Beacon's Andre Alzate scored the lone goal in the 68th minute. Beacon faces Yorktown (Section 1) on Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. at Yorktown High School in the regional finals. The Bulldogs have never advanced to the regional finals in program history.

Tuesday, November 1
Our Lady of Lourdes defeats Briarcliff (Section 1) 4-2 in penalty kicks, at Hendrick Hudson High School. Lourdes will play Carle Place, the Long Island champion, at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Beacon High School. The winner heads to the state semifinals.

Wednesday, Nov. 2
Haldane 2, Rhinebeck 1, at Hendrick Hudson High School. Haldane (Section 1) will face Pierson/Bridgehampton (Section 11) in the regional final at a time and date to be determined.

Sunday, November 5
Chapel Field (9) vs. Greenport (Section 11) at location TBA at 1 p.m. ; winner advances to Final Four on Nov. 12 at 11:15 a.m. at Middletown High School.

Marlboro, the defending Class B champion, didn't qualify for a berth. Spackenkill, last year’s sectional runner-up, is seeded fifth but has only two losses ― to Rhinebeck ― and could be a sleeper.

Friday, Oct. 21
No. 4 Newburgh Free Academy 1, No. 5 Kingston 0: Host Newburgh advances to Monday's semifinal against Warwick. Anthony Martinez collected a pass near midfield, dribbled through defenders and ripped a shot from 15 yards out with 27 minutes to play. Evan Hoang-Le and Andreas Gillmeier each had two saves for Newburgh (9-7-1). Chris Redding made six stops for Kingston.
No. 3 Monroe-Woodbury 3, No. 6 Valley Central 0: Host Monroe-Woodbury advances to Monday's semifinal at Washingtonville. Neptaly Castro scored twice and Richie Hudson once. Parker Giles needed one save for the shutout. James Joyce made seven saves for Valley Central.

No. 3 Monroe-Woodbury 1, No. 2 Washingtonville 0: Neptaly Castro scored the goal off an assist from Ryan Dove in the 77th minute to lead Monroe-Woodbury. Goalkeeper Parker Giles made two saves in the clean-sheet victory. David Rodriguez made nine saves for Washingtonville.

No. 4 Cornwall 4, No. 5 New Paltz 1: Justin Seitz scored three goals to lead Cornwall. Ellis Urgent added a goal and an assist. Nick Ryabov, Joe Cavallo and Brennan Burns each dished out an assist. Tiernan Limperopolous made three saves and Brett Zimmer made two in the Dragons' win. Andrew Zorin scored the goal for New Paltz. Harry Edelman made seven saves.
No. 3 Goshen 7, No. 6 Saugerties 1: Alex Massa tallied two goals and one assist to lead host Goshen (14-1-1). Bradyn Primus and Carlos Chinchilla each added a goal and an assist. Marc Konis, Bryan Pinos and Ryan Patel each a contributed a goal. Axel Fierros, Aidan Diglio, Chris VanHaaster and Nick DeBellis each dished out an assist. Tyler Kropp made four saves and Michael Gallo had two saves to combine for the Gladiators' win. For Saugerties (6-6-2), Shaan Sekhon scored the goal off an assist from Bryan Castillo. Goalkeeper Owen Gallagher made 10 saves.

No. 5 Spackenkill 3, No. 4 Fallsburg 0: Davis Barnes had one goal and one assist. Andrew Speranza and Travis Kilpert each added a goal. Shahani and Updike each dished out an assist.
No. 2 Our Lady of Lourdes 3, No. 7 Liberty 0: Dean Eljamal and Jack Yough each scored a goal to lead Our Lady of Lourdes. Alex Hooper and Colin Gaddoniex each dished out an assist. An own goal by Liberty off a free kick by AJ Geis opened the scoring for Lourdes. Ned Van Loan made four saves for Lourdes in the clean-sheet victory.
No. 3 James I. O'Neill 3, No. 6 Dover 2: Jackson Smith scored two goals (13-3-1). Jorge Yeye added a goal. Jeric Yeye dished out an assist. Lucas Haley made six saves for O'Neill in the win. Alex Liveris and Dariel Ochoa scored the goals for Dover (8-6-1). Andrew Flint made four saves.

No. 1 Red Hook 2, No. 5 Spackenkill 1: Colin MacDonald and Cristian Menino scored for Red Hook. Matt Mulkins and Raphael Senterfit-Sanjuan each dished out an assist. Red Hook goalkeeper Austin Litton made five saves in the win. Dylan Updike scored the goal for Spackenkill. Andrew McDermott made six saves for the Spartans.
No. 2 Our Lady of Lourdes 2, No. 3 James I. O'Neill 0: Zach Cervone and Jack Yough each scored a goal in the second half to lead Lourdes. AJ Geis and Alex Hooper each dished out an assist. Goalkeeper Ned Van Loan made five saves for his fifth consecutive clean-sheet victory for Lourdes. O'Neill goalkeeper Lucas Haley made eight saves.

No. 2 Mount Academy 7, No. 3 Burke Catholic 0: Nolan Kleinsasser tallied two goals and one assist to lead host Mount Academy (11-3-0). Jake Maendel added two goals. Konol Barton tallied one goal and one assist. Ian Fischer and Robert O’Connell each contributed a goal. Dwayne Arnold dished out an assist. Goalkeeper Leon Maendel made two saves in the win for Mount Academy. Brandon Murphy made 14 saves for Burke Catholic (9-6-1).

No. 1 Rhinebeck 1, No. 2 Mount Academy 0: Felix Adams scored the game-winning goal 4:53 left in double-overtime to lead Rhinebeck to its fifth championship in six seasons.
