Class AA

McQuaid 3, Connetquot-XI 0

Andrew O’Neill broke through for McQuaid’s first goal in the 23rd minute and Casey Montesano’s goal with 6:07 left in the first half gave the Knights a 2-0 lead against a Connetquot team that was battling sickness as well as the absence a few starters due to disciplinary issues.

And 10 minutes into the second half, Trey Leo’s strike made it a 3-0 game.

Niyen Ruffin and the McQuaid defense posted their 15th shutout of the season and have turned in a clean sheet in three of their five playoff games.

McQuaid (18-0-2) advances to Sunday’s 5:30 p.m. state championship at Middletown High, where it will play Scarsdale (20-0-0) of Section I, a 2-0 winner over Cicero-North Syracuse in the other semifinal.

Class A

Amityville-XI 3, Spencerport 0

Amityville took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal by Stanley Louis and his second goal early in the second half made it a 2-0 game before Horace Gilbert headed in a rebound with 1:15 left.

Spencerport ends its season with a 16-5-1 record.

Amityville (19-1-1), which lost in last year’s state final, will play Beacon-IX in Sunday’s 1 p.m. championship at Middletown High.
