FHSAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Florida High School Athletic Association Boys Weightlifting Championships will be held all-day Saturday at RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

There are two categories: Traditional (bench press and clean and jerk) and Olympic (snatch).

Four area lifters have the top mark in their respective classes. In Class 3A Traditional 139-pound weight class, Charlotte HIgh's Zachary Anderson leads with a 545. In 2A Olympic unlimited weight class, Port Charlotte High's Jayce Marcum has a 520. Also in 2A Olympic, Lemon Bay High's Landon Spanninger has a 570 in the 219-pound weight class, and the Manta Rays' Alexander Truisi is tied for the top spot in the 129-pound weight class with a 380.

Charlotte is the defending Class 2A state champions in the traditional lifts.
