Brad Parscale’s wife walks back domestic violence allegations as Trump advisor steps down
Brad Parscale resigned late Wednesday as a senior adviser to President Donald Trump’s campaign just days after he was put on an involuntary mental health hold for a drunken incident at his Florida home.
“I am stepping away from my company and any role in the campaign for the immediate future to focus on my family and get help dealing with the overwhelming stress,” Parscale, who was named the campaign manager for Trump’s reelection campaign in 2018 but demoted this summer after a Tulsa rally, said a statement to Politico.
Body cam footage from outside Parscale’s Fort Lauderdale home shows the political adviser walking shirtless out of his house, carrying a beer, before SWAT officers tackle him to the ground.
His wife, Candice, had called police from a neighbor’s house after she claimed Parscale had pulled out a gun during an argument and threatened suicide.
She also told officials that Parscale had been violent with her recently and one of the officers observed “several bruises on both arms," according to the police report.
But Candice Parscale has now walked back allegations of domestic violence.
“The statements I made on Sunday have been misconstrued, let it be clear my husband was not violent towards me that day or any day prior,” she said in a statement to Politico.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department did not immediately respond to questions about any changes to the investigation after Candice Parscale’s new statement.
Ten guns were seized from Parscale’s house after he was taken into custody under the Baker Act Sunday.
