Bradenton bicyclist dies after getting hit by truck on US 41, officials say

A Bradenton bicyclist died after getting hit by a pick-up truck Tuesday morning.

A Chevy work truck was traveling southbound on US 41 at 9:50 a.m. on the inside travel lane when a 65-year-old male bicyclist violated the right of way, Florida Highway Patrol officials said in a report.

The truck, driven by a 27-year-old man, was approaching 45 Avenue Circle West when he hit the left side of the bicyclist. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Manatee County EMS.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit will continue to investigate the crash.
