Bradford County man sentenced four years following September 2023 police chase

SAYRE, Pa. (WETM) — A Bradford County man was sentenced to up to four years in Pennsylvania state prison after he was arrested following a police chase back in September 2023.

According to the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office, 44-year-old Gregory Vandyke of Sayre, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to a minimum of 15 months to four years in prison on the charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

Vandyke was arrested in September 2023 where officials say he was in a police chase that lasted several miles.

District Attorney Richard Wilson denied Vandyke the ability to participate in a state drug treatment program that would’ve allowed for a shorter prison sentence but said Vandyke has already done the course from a prior sentence.

“Although I support that program for some defendants, Vandyke had previously completed that program as part of an earlier sentence,” Wilson said, “only a matter of months before he committed this offense,” he said.

Wilson added that it wouldn’t make sense for Vandyke to receive that same opportunity again, and will have to serve at least 15 months before seeking parole.
