Effingham County continues to grow its industrial portfolio with the addition of Bradshaw Home, a California-based housewares distributor. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on Tuesday announced the company's plans to build a distribution center near Meldrim. The facility will employ 230 workers.

“As the No. 1 state for business, Georgia's robust infrastructure and workforce continue to attract industry leaders such as Bradshaw,” said Kemp.The company’s portfolio includes kitchen tools, gadgets, bakeware, cleaning products and more.“We are proud to welcome Bradshaw Home to Effingham County,” said Speaker of the House Jon Burns. “Georgia’s strong economy and business-friendly environment continue to make us the envy of the nation.”

Bradshaw Homes CEO Tony Hair took note of Effingham County’s location and knew it would be the perfect spot as the county sits just minutes away from the Port of Savannah.“More than 75% of Bradshaw’s customers are east of the Rocky Mountains and 55% are east of the Mississippi River,” said Hair. “By opening an East Coast location, we expand our distribution network to more effectively service customers while significantly reducing freight miles to transport our products – a win-win for both retailers and the environment.”The 1.2-million-square-foot facility located in Savannah Portside International Park is slated to open in November. The facility hire forklift operators, material handlers and warehouse operation leads among other positions.
