Roden (6-foot-2, 170 pounds), led the Pirates to a 10-0 record and the IVC South Division championship. Garaway opened the postseason with a 48-7 victory over Smithville last week and plays host to conference rival Ridgewood in a Division V, Region 17 quarterfinal on Friday night.

Roden, who began the season as Garaway's all-time leader in interceptions, caught 22 passes for 353 yards and six touchdowns this season. He also had five interceptions this season, giving him 19 for his career.

Millender led Newcomerstown to an 8-2 record, including 5-0 in the IVC North, and the Trojans' first playoff appearance since 2000.

He rushed for 1,107 yards on just 164 carries, averaging 6.75 yards per carry, and he scored 14 touchdowns. In Newcomerstown's two-overtime win over Malvern in an IVC North showdown, Millender had a team-high 85 yards rushing as the Trojans gained 230 yards overall.

The coaches of the year were Jason Wallick of Garaway and Dirk Gadd of Newcomerstown.
