Bramlette STEAM Academy principal resigns after 8 years

LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) – Longview ISD has announced that Nikita Mumphrey is resigning from her position as principal of Bramlette STEAM Academy after leading the school for eight years.

The former principal of Bailey Elementary, Julie Hope, will now serve at Bramlette STEAM Academy. The CEO of East Texas Advanced Academies, Dr. Brian Ziemer said that Hope will help continue the success of Bramlette.

“Mrs. Hope’s reputation for loving students and staff makes her exactly the right leader for Bramlette, and we look forward to working with her,” said Ziemer.

According to Longview ISD, Bramlette teaches children with an “International Baccalaureate (IB) and Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics curriculum that will develop learners who will be inquirers and equipped with a college-preparatory education, military readiness, future career aspirations and intercultural understanding for the 21st century.”

Longview ISD hosts showcase for CTE program

Longview ISD also announced that Sue Wilson, former principal of Hudson PEP Elementary for 18 years, has come out of retirement to support the launch of the new dual-language program at Bailey Elementary. Wilson will now serve as the interim principal of Bailey Elementary.

“Of course, we are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Sue Wilson back into the district and have every confidence that she will provide excellent leadership at Bailey in the interim,” said Longview superintendent of schools, Dr. James Wilcox.
