As the Bahamas is preparing to celebrate its 50th birthday, the newest addition to its hospitality scene is giving us a major throwback moment. Goldwynn Resort & Residences, an 81-room oceanfront resort sitting on iconic Cable Beach in Nassau, debuted on Feb. 1.

With curving midcentury modern architecture and sleek furnishings in the residential-style suites, Goldwynn Resort & Residences pays tribute to the golden era of travel and the Bahamas of the '60s, blending nostalgic décor elements with contemporary amenities.

“At Goldwynn Resort, we are dedicated to providing the best in-luxury service and an experience that mirrors a contemporary island-living philosophy,” said Paul Wynn of Wynn Hospitality, LTD, developer of Goldwynn Resort & Residences, in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure. “Matched with our private yet prime location, guests are encouraged to immerse themselves and appreciate the aspects of Bahamian culture from cuisine and art to nature both on-property and within the surrounding destination.”

Guests can now book studios or one- two- or three-bedroom suites with kitchens, private balconies, and breathtaking ocean or golf course views. Each room is clad in a coastal palette of white, blue, and metallics and features custom Bahamian art.

And if you are looking to splurge, consider the Goldwynn Suite — a 1,940-square-foot, three-bedroom space with multiple balconies and sweeping ocean views.

The resort, which is the only Bahamian member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, is also enticing guests with a variety of dining concepts. Start your day with coffee or a smoothie at Amara, a casual lounge area, anchored by a 60-foot-tall art installation by local artist Keshan Munroe. Beachgoers who have worked up an appetite should head to Amara, an open-air eatery on the beautiful pool deck, serving lighter fare and cocktails. And pre-dinner drinks are served at bar Paul, a chic waterfront bar with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the ocean. Another restaurant will open in March — OIA will focus on Mediterranean flavors with a Japanese twist.

Also in March, the resort will debut its signature spa in collaboration with Voya and Biologique Recherche to offer guests a range of beauty and wellness treatments they can enjoy in one of the three treatment rooms. A nail salon, a multipurpose room, and an outdoor cabana will round out the spa’s facilities.
