Brandi Carlile Premieres SiriusXM Show Spotlighting LGBTQ+ Artists

Brandi Carlile is bringing “queer excellence” to SiriusXM.

The first episode of Carlile’s monthly SiriusXM show, Brandi Carlile’s Somewhere Over the Radio, dropped Wednesday on the service’s Spectrum channel (channel 28).

Carlile will curate the music, focusing on LGBTQ+ artists and allies. In the premiere episode, Carlile and her wife, Catherine Carlile, feature artists including Tracy Chapman, Elton John, Antony and the Johnsons, Arlo Parks, the Indigo Girls, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and Dolly Parton.

“Carlile will also share personal anecdotes between songs and engage in candid conversations with her guests,” according to a SiriusXM press release.

“This show is about the impact that LGBTQIA + artists have made on the world, the spiritual realm, and certainly our family through the transcendence of music,” Carlile said in the release. “Queer artists and pioneers have given my wife and I everything that we have, including each other. Let’s shine a little light on queer excellence today.”

New episodes will air the first Wednesday of each month at 2 p.m. Eastern on The Spectrum. The Spectrum is available to subscribers nationwide in their car and on the SXM App. The SXM App is available to subscribers on mobile devices and a wide variety of connected platforms in the home, including smart speakers, smart TVs, and streaming media players. Streaming access is included with all of SiriusXM’s audio trials and most popular plans.

It's been a busy year for the lesbian singer-songwriter, and there’s more to come. She recently appeared at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island with a set that included a rare public performance by legendary musician Joni Mitchell. She will also kick off the 48th season of the PBS music show Austin City Limits. The episode, set to air October 1, will mark her third appearance on the program.
