Jack Harlow performed at the 2022 BET Awards on Sunday night and brought out a surprise guest who spiced up the track with her flair: the Vocal Bible, Brandy Norwood.

Harlow’s performance kicked off with the standard version of “First Class,” pumping the audience up with the hit song.

About halfway through the performance, Harlow paused and stepped aside to let Brandy come out and perform.

The audience was audibly excited to see Brandy, and Harlow was right by her side — hyping her up and cheering her on.

Once they wrapped up their performance, they also notably hugged and walked off the stage together, showing the world that they mended fences.

Later that evening, Brandy shared some comments on her surprise appearance during a brief interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“I can’t believe what just happened. I didn’t know the crowd was gonna be excited,” Brandy began. “I’m so thankful to Jack because he gave me this great opportunity to, like, be a rapper. Like, I’ve had a rap dream for years!”

She continued discussing how she’s always wanted to foray into rap, but she felt as though people were wanting her to stay in the R&B lane. Brandy also acknowledged that Jack Harlow reached out to her and suggested preforming together, as he loved her freestyle.

As Blavity previously reported, Harlow seemingly sparked some issues with Brandy last month during his appearance on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning.

During the interview, Harlow shared that he had no idea that Brandy and Ray J were siblings. He also went on to reduce Brandy to “Ray J’s sister,” seemingly diminishing her own musical and on-screen accomplishments.

While Harlow understandably caught a ton of flak online for his ignorance, Brandy eventually chimed in as well — memorably saying that she could easily “sing his ass to sleep.”

Shortly thereafter, Brandy did just that by releasing a freestyle over the “First Class” beat, which was widely appreciated by fans, as Blavity previously reported.

It’s also worth noting that, for his part, Harlow tried to control the damage by speaking out about how much he loves Black women during an interview with Teen Vogue.

“Black women are such a massive part of my career,” he began. “They’ll never have to worry about not being credited by me.”

“I mean, I look out at my shows and see them. It’s one thing when you see the memes and you hear people talking about it, but it’s another when you travel the country and see them all over the place,” Harlow continued. “I love Black women. I’ve loved Black women my whole life.”

Now, it seems as though the two have buried the hatchet — giving audiences quite the surprise in the process.
