Brandy Old Fashioned Hall of Fame to start in Milwaukee

Who are the top brandy old fashioned fans? Central Standard Craft Distillery will answer that question with the induction of six people into its Brandy Old Fashioned Hall of Fame, to be housed in the Central Standard Crafthouse & Kitchen at 320 E. Clybourn St. in downtown Milwaukee.

The public can nominate a potential hall of famer online with an essay of 50 words or fewer, explaining why someone is worthy of the honor. Nominations will be accepted through Sept. 30; honorees will be announced in mid-October. Visit thecentralstandard.com/brandy-old-fashioned-hall-of-fame.

Also, September is Wisconsin Brandy Old Fashioned Month, and Central Standard co-founders Evan Hughes and Pat McQuillan encouraged Wisconsinites to taste brandy from local distillers and support Wisconsin distilleries when ordering their brandy old fashioned cocktails.

Space Time Coffee's downtown cafe is in its last weeks

There's still time for a latte or pour-over coffee and a pastry, but Space Time Coffee cafe downtown will mark its last day on Sept. 25.

It's open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily on the first floor of the Dubbel Dutch boutique hotel (which means a visit to the cafe is also a chance to look around the restored mansion at 819 N. Marshall St.).

Although the cafe will close, owner Adam Sterr said in an Instagram post that microroaster Space Time will continue to roast its own coffee, still selling beans and grounds directly to the public at spacetimecoffee.com but also expanding to provide its coffee to more businesses and appearing at more pop-up markets.
