Braves trade No. 1 prospect, 2 others for MLB Draft pick
The Braves have traded three prospects on Monday for a pick in next week’s MLB draft.
The team will get the No. 35 pick in the draft for minor leaguers Andrew Waters and Andrew Hoffman, and CJ Alexander.
Waters, 23, was ranked as the organization’s best prospect by MLB.com prior to the trade.
Waters, a centerfielder, was selected by the Braves in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft after playing high school at Etowah High School in Woodstock.

Atlanta and Kansas City are finalizing a trade that will send center-field prospect Drew Waters, right-handed pitching prospect Andrew Hoffmann and a third minor leaguer to the Royals for the 35th pick in Sunday's draft, which has a $2.2 million slot value, sources tell ESPN.

While playing with Triple-A Gwinnett this season, Waters batted .246 with five home runs.
Rookie Michael Harris has emerged at centerfield for the Braves this season, which could have made them comfortable with moving on from Waters.
Hoffman, a pitcher, was ranked at No. 23 according to MLB.com and Alexander, a third baseman, was not ranked.

Monday’s trade is the second trade the team has made in the last 24 hours. It traded 8-time All-Star Robinson Cano in a trade with the San Diego Padres on Sunday.
Cano, 39. has struggled this season, batting just .149 with one home run in 24 games with the Padres and New York Mets. However, the Braves hope his experience could help at second base while Ozzie Albies continues to recover from a knee injury.
