This midtown Sacramento coffee shops is moving to a new location. Here’s where and when

Brazilian cafe Tupi Coffee is moving for the third time — this time to downtown Sacramento.

The shop opened seven years ago at Arden Way but it closed in 2021 due to challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to its website. It reopened at a new location in August 2021 in midtown at 701 19th St.

It will move again this summer to 1901 Eighth St, the former location of Insight Coffee Roasters.

There will be a soft opening at the beginning of September, Eduardo Faustino, the owner of Tupi Coffee, told The Bee in an email. A grand opening will be planned later, but there isn’t a set date yet.

“Our cultural goods are an expression of who we are, family ties with deep values and flavors,” the coffee shop stated on its website.

Faustino is from Brazil. He moved to the U.S. in 2016 and started Tupi a year later.

Menu items include Brazillian baked goods, such as coxinha, a pastry made with tapioca flour, mashed potatoes and chicken, cheese bread and rissoles, which are Brazilian dumplings. The shop also offers coffee, tea, acai bowls and sandwiches.

What’s new at the downtown spot?

Faustino said Tupi is growing to a better space with more seating.

There will be a rooftop area, which will be available for private events and parties.

The menu will also expand, he said, with the addition of wine, beer, Brazillian tapas and empanadas. Hours will also stretch to nighttime.

The current location is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
