Brazil's U.N. ambassador 'confident' country will overcome riots
STORY: "The government repudiates in the strongest possible terms the violence committed," Filho told reporters outside the U.N. Security Council. "We are confident that the strength of Brazilian institutions will allow us to overcome these violent and lamentable incidents of yesterday and allow us to move forward within the strength of our democratic institutions."
Filho also said that his country is grateful to the international support it has received.
On Monday (January 9), Brazilian soldiers backed by police dismantled the camp of Bolsonaro supporters in Brasilia. Police in riot gear amassed at the camp outside the army headquarters, while troops took down tents, Reuters witnesses said. The protesters were dispersed.
