Breaking Bad director Michelle MacLaren's new sci-fi series Constellation has dropped its first trailer.

Ahead of its release on February 21, Apple TV+ has unveiled the first thrilling trailer for the upcoming sci-fi series which stars The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's Noomi Rapace.

The series, which also stars Breaking Bad favourite Jonathan Banks, sees War of the Worlds' Peter Harness take on writing duties while MacLaren directs.

"Constellation stars Noomi Rapace as Jo — an astronaut who returns to Earth after a disaster in space — only to discover that key pieces of her life seem to be missing. The action-packed space adventure is an exploration of the dark edges of human psychology, and one woman's desperate quest to expose the truth about the hidden history of space travel and recover all that she has lost," reads the official synopsis.

The eight-part series sees Oppenheimer star James D'Arcy and Emily in Paris actor Julian Looman join Rapace and Banks on the cast.

Also joining them are Voyager's Barbara Sukowa, A Thousand and One star William Catlett and newcomer Davina Coleman, who will star as Rapace's on-screen daughter Alice.

Produced by Turbine Studios and Haut et Court TV, the series, which boasts the tagline, "A catastrophe in space. Madness on Earth", will premiere on Apple TV+ with its first three episodes on February 21.

Per the trailer, Jo is involved in an accident during a mission in space and returns home to find things aren't quite as she left them.

"I'm very happy to be back home," Jo says in a voiceover in the trailer. "But things are different."

We see Jo struggling to adjust to life back on Earth as she, and those around her, question her sanity including, one scene which sees Jo visit a psychiatrist.

"Do you have hallucinations?" the psychiatrist asks Jo, to which she replies: "Yeah".

Constellation will premiere on Apple TV+ with its first three episodes on February 21.
