BREAKING: Craig Slaughter named new head football coach at Wall

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Just a month after Wall ISD announced that Houston Guy will not be returning after 17 years as head football coach, they have announced that defensive coordinator Craig Slaughter has been named the new head football coach.

With head coaching stops at Hearne, Clyde, Sweetwater, and Llano, Slaughter worked as the defensive coordinator since 2017, where he turned an already solid defensive group into one of the best in the area the last handful of seasons.

The Winters, Texas native began his head coaching career in 2006 at Clyde collecting a 23-12 overall record as Bulldog head coach, which was the best three-year stretch the program had seen in nearly 20 years, highlighted by a district title for Clyde for the first time in 17 years.

Slaughter would then be named head coach of Sweetwater in 2009 where he posted a 9-21 mark in three seasons, before his final coaching stop in 2012 for five years at Llano where the Yellowjackets were 18-36 reaching the postseason three times, including back-to-back postseason appearances in 2015 and 2016.
