Breaking down all 13 Division wrestling sectionals in the Greater Akron/Canton region

Tony Collins’ third-place finish at 285 pounds pushed the senior to the Garfield Heights Division II district tournament and gave the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy team a sectional team title.

Rocco Czarnecki (113 pounds), Braden Hahlen (120) and Kyle Snider (190) won individual titles on Saturday. The Royals sent nine to district.

The Greater Akron/Canton area also had titles from Copley’s Javaan Yarbrough (106) and DeVonn Nixon (157).

Cloverleaf’s Garran Leffel (132) and Tristan Craddock (150) and Hoban’s Tommy Conway (126) also won.

Division II

West Branch Sectional

Louisville lapped the field with 10 district qualifiers and got championships from Connor Novosel (113), Dylan Rhoads (132), Dominic Hoffarth (150) and Wyatt Smith (157).

Marlington’s Luke Stanley (120), Coventry’s Evan McGhee (138), West Branch’s Hudson Brink (165) and Alliance’s Aidan Mozden (215) won individual crowns.

Streetsboro wrestling:Senior Donovan Paes puts passion into wrestling

Kenston Sectional

Streetsboro won the team title with 10 district qualifiers and St. Vincent-St. Mary was second with nine.

Aidan Carone (106), Anthony Perez (120), Donovan Paes (132), Cohen Klimak (150) and Landon Bodovetz (175) won titles for the Rockets.

Chirstian Osborne (113), Bryce Skinner (126), Braden Dunlap (138), Calvin Gwinn (157) and Bryson Getz (215) were sectional champions for the Fighting Irish.

Ravenna’s Sean Loucks (144) and Woodridge’s Steven Duffy (165) rounded out area winners.

Harvey Sectional

Buckeye ran away with the sectional title with 13 wrestlers headed to district. The Bucks had first-place finishes from Blake Bartos (106), Colyn Limbert (113), Jayson Knapp (120), Austin McKee (126), Nolan Martin (150), Kaden King (157), Brandon Hayner (165), Eddie Neitenbach (175) and Todd Allen (285).

Division I

Fitch Sectional

Nordonia will have 12 representatives wrestle next weekend at the Hoover District after winning the team title. The Knights picked up titles from Israel Petite (144), Gino Perrine (157) and Jeremy Olszko (175).

Jackson and Highland each had two champions with Ethan Dimos (106) and Colten Arnold (285) winning for the Polar Bears and Conner Haney (126) and Lukas Stiles (190) claiming victory for the Hornets. GlenOak’s Brandon Batson (165) rounded out area winners.

Euclid Sectional

Walsh Jesuit advanced 11 wrestlers to district Saturday and won the Euclid Division I sectional. Dy’Vaire VanDyke (138) and Brock Sherman (190) won titles for the Warriors, who put five in the finals.

Medina had two champions in Andrew Supers (157) and Blain Chrisman (190).

Barberton picked up a championship from Roosevelt Andrews (285).

Perry Sectional

In a sectional with two nationally ranked teams, Brecksville outlasted Perry to win the team title. The Bees had all 14 wrestlers advance with titles from Rylan Seacrist (106), Kaden Jett (132), Chase Pluhar (138), Brock Herman (144), Evan Rizzo (157), Frank Gallo (165), Luke Vanadia (175) and Max Vanadia (215).

Perry has 13 district qualifiers and sectional titles from Mason Rohr (113), Liston Seibert (120), Austin McBurney (126), Christian Giltz (150), Ryder Hartshorn (190) and Aidan Fockler (285).

Wadsworth Sectional

Wadsworth rolled through its own sectional and advanced all 14 wrestlers to the Hoover district tournament.

The Grizzlies picked up titles from Jack Dinwiddie (120), Jaxon Joy (132), Kyle Jardine (138), Nick Humphrys (144), Jake Keirn (150), Chris Earnest (157), Louie Schaefer (175), Coen Grimm (190) and Aaron Ries (285).

Aurora’s Luke Green (106) and Johnny Green (113) and Stow’s Robert Davis (126) and Teddy Gregory (215) accounted for the other area titles.

Strongsville Sectional

The Mustangs have six district qualifiers and won their own sectional on the strength of an individual title from Ray Lewis (144).

Brunswick’s Eddie Skiba (113), Owen Tarnai (132) and Dominic May (215) were sectional winners. The Blue Devils have eight qualifiers.

North Royalton’s Mannix Wasco (138), Tyler Rowles (150) and Kyle Sandborn (175) won titles.

Division III

Rootstown Sectional

The Rovers won the team title behind champions Will McEwuen (113), Dylan Wise (144), Dominic Duvall (150), Cody Coontz (165) and Lane McKenzie (190). Rootstown led the way with 11 district qualifiers as well.

Waterloo’s Justin Fox and Crestwood’s Gavin McIntyre (215) also won titles.

Berkshire Sectional

Garrettsville Garfield finished third behind Perry (Lake County) and Pymatuning Valley and will send five individuals to district. The G-Men picked up titles from Hunter Andel (165) and Keegan Sell (190).

Independence Sectional

Tuslaw finished second behind Columbia and Mogadore was third. The Mustangs had champions in Kaden Lawson (106), Maxwell Cooper (144) and Jacob Lyons (150) and have seven district qualifiers.

Black River’s Joe Dennis (120), Manchester’s Evan Kusmits (126) and Mogadore’s Tyler Shellenbarger (215) rounded out area champions.

The Wildcats have five district qualifiers.

Northwestern Sectional

Waynedale won the team title behind champions Caden Schmeltzer (132), Collin Kearney (138) and Brayden Kidd (285) and 10 sent to district. Northwestern had an individual champion in Trent Sigler (120).

Dalton’s Greyson Siders won at 165.
