A Bartlesville Police officer is under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct, according to the BPD.

On Nov 8, BPD officials were made aware of allegations that an officer had inappropriate sexual contact with a confidential informant or witness. The officer was immediately put on administrative leave and an internal investigation was begun by BPD Internal Affairs.

The BPD also alerted the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation of the alleged misconduct and the agency has initiated a separate criminal investigation. Both investigations are underway simultaneously.

"We have an open investigation into a City of Bartlesville employee for alleged misconduct. As this is an active investigation and no charges have been filed or arrests made, that’s all the information I am able to release at this time," said Brook Arbeitman, public information officer for OSBI.

Upon conclusion of the investigations, the officer's employment will be decided. City officials expect that to happen soon. The BPD and the OSBI declined to release further details because the investigations are active.
