Update | Snow storm forces Tri-City school closures, delays. Hanford on late start

Snow and icy roads prompted multiple Tri-City school districts and some government offices to delay their start times or remain closed on Monday.

Some schools that on Sunday night announced late openings on Monday morning, decided to close after snow continued to fall.

As of 8 a.m. Monday, about 3 inches of snow had accumulated on the ground in the Tri-Cities with more snow falling.

Here’s the latest on closures and delayed openings:

  • Kennewick School District: Update. Closed. No before or after school activities.

  • Richland School District: Update. Closed.

  • Pasco School District: Update. Closed. No before or after school activities.

  • Finley School District: Update. Closed.

  • Columbia School District: Closed.

  • Prosser School District: Update. School closed. No athletic or school events.

  • Washington State University Tri-Cities: 2-hour late start.

  • Kiona Benton City School District: Closed.

  • Kahlotus School District: Closed.

  • Christ the King: Update. Closed.

  • Bethlehem Lutheran School: Update. Closed.

  • St. Joseph’s School Kennewick: Closed. No preschool or Children’s Center.

  • Liberty Christian School Tri-Cities. Update. Closed.

  • Calvary Christian School: Closed.

  • Benton Franklin Head Start: Closed. Early Head Start home visits canceled.

  • Children’s Developmental Center: Closed, but operating remotely. Evaluations will be rescheduled.

  • Franklin County initially announced that its offices would be closed Monday. It then corrected information to say it planned a delayed start with the courthouse and courts opening at 10 a.m.

  • Pasco city offices will delay opening until 10 a.m.

  • West Richland city offices and the police department will delay opening until 10 a.m.

  • Columbia Industries: Update. Closed, including CI Information Management, Paradise bottled Water and CI Community Center.

  • Meals on Wheels: No Tri-Cities home delivery. Dining centers closed.

  • Mid-Columbia Libraries: Keewaydin Park, Kennewick, Pasco, Prosser, West Pasco and West Richland branches will open late at noon.

Mid-Columbia School Delays & Closures

At the Hanford Site, non-essential workers were told to come in late Monday and to expect longer commute times.

  • Workers in the 200 West Area, the vitrification plant and 100 Areas are to come in at 9 a.m. for the day shift.

  • Workers in the 200 East Area and all other areas south of the Wye Barricade, including employees working in Richland, are to come in at 9:30 a.m.

  • No delays are planned for swing and graveyard shifts Monday.

  • Employees who are teleworking or are able to telework should continue to do so.

  • Essential employees needed to maintain safe and secure conditions are to follow their regular schedule.
