Seven months after its inaugural flight from Jacksonville, low-fare airline Breeze Airways is adding new destinations and returning others to its flight schedule at JIA.
Beginning Thursday, May 18, Breeze will offer four weekly nonstop flights from Jacksonville International Airport to Raleigh-Durham (N.C.) International Airport, the airline announced Wednesday. The flights will depart Jacksonville on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays.
Also that week, Breeze will begin offering its one-stop “BreezeThru” service to two additional cities: Providence, R.I., and Islip/Long Island, N.Y. Passengers on those flights from Jacksonville will not have a plane change at the intermediate stop.
The 18-month-old start-up airline entered the Jacksonville market in March with plans to launch nonstop service to seven cities, including Las Vegas and New Orleans, beginning in May.

At the time, Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Mark VanLoh called the airline’s plans the largest single-service announcement in the airport's 54-year history.
Now, Breeze is adding to that commitment.
“In less than one year, Breeze Airways has added a considerable number of new nonstop flights to some of our largest unserved markets,” VanLoh said in a news release. “Today’s announcement means much-needed service to Raleigh-Durham and the welcome return of flights to several cities.”
Also beginning in May, Breeze will return seasonal flights to Norfolk, Va.; Richmond, Va.; Columbus, Ohio; and Hartford, Conn.
The new and returning flights are in addition to Breeze’s existing flights between Jacksonville and Las Vegas, New Orleans, Westchester County/New York and Hartford.
The flights will come when work is expected to be underway on the airport’s new $300 million concourse B and updated security screening area projects. Expected to open by mid-2025, the new concourse will add six gates to the airport’s existing 20 gates in concourses A and C.
The security checkpoint will expand from eight lanes to nine and enable the Transportation Security Administration to install the most modern automated technology for screening passengers, airport officials said.
Fares to Raleigh-Durham begin at $39 one-way when purchased by Dec. 13, 2022, for travel by Sept. 5, 2023.
