Breeze Airways launching 5 new flights out of Orange County

A budget airline that connects Southern California with underserved cities across the country is adding more destinations to its roster.

Breeze Airways announced Tuesday it had launched a new flight between Orange County and Grand Junction, Colorado. The flights will be offered Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays, and the inaugural flight took place this week.

As part of the launch, the airline is offering introductory ticket deals of $39 one-way for travel between April 23 and May 24.

Breeze also offers daily service to Provo, Utah, and will soon be offering a one-stop, no-plane-change service to Hartford, Connecticut, officials said.

The airline is adding more service out of John Wayne Airport this year, with five more destinations among new or returning routes.

The Santa Ana airport will have new flights to the following cities:

  • Grand Junction, Colorado: Mon, Thurs and Sun; available now

  • Ogden, Utah: Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat; beginning Feb. 21

  • Orlando, Florida: Tues, Wed and Sat; beginning May 29

  • Columbus, Ohio: Thurs and Sun; beginning May 30

    • Previously offered service returning on seasonal basis

  • Tampa, Florida: Mon and Fri; beginning May 31

    • New seasonal service

Breeze Aiways CEO David Neeleman said John Wayne Airport has shown “great demand” for its service, which connects Southern California to locations that don’t have existing nonstop service.

“Grand Junction, which ‘Travel + Leisure’ magazine calls ‘one of Colorado’s best secrets’ is a great example of this, as we connect two great destinations nonstop today,” Neeleman said.

Breeze launches new flights from LAX and John Wayne

John Wayne Airport Director Charlene Reynolds said the latest flight enhances the connectivity between Orange County travelers and the rest of the nation, adding that Breeze Airways continues to be a “valued partner, aligning with our commitment to offering diverse and accessible travel choices.”

Breeze began flying in March 2021 and has quickly expanded, offering dozens of nonstop flights from airports around the country. The budget airline began serving LAX in November 2022 and John Wayne Airport in February 2023. It also offers direct flights to Las Vegas from San Bernardino International Airport.

The Utah-based airline says its business model centers around serving underserved cities and offering “affordable fares with plenty of perks,” including fewer fees, free family seating and enhanced seating options. Breeze says it doesn’t charge for changes or cancellations up to 15 minutes before departure and offers other benefits like a la carte pricing.

Travelers hoping to book a trip to Grand Junction for the introductory price of $39 have through Friday to purchase tickets. Taxes and additional fees are included.
