Bremerton School District anticipates naming its new superintendent on Friday morning after narrowing its list of candidates from 25 applicants to three finalists: Erin Murphy, Eric Nerison and James Crawford.

The finalists are scheduled to participate in community forums this week at the school district administrative office (134 Marion Ave. North) with Murphy appearing on Tuesday, Nerison on Wednesday and Crawford on Thursday. The forums will run from 5-5:45 p.m. For community members unable to attend the forums in-person, there is a Zoom link available on the district website.

Murphy is currently the assistant/associate/deputy superintendent for Bainbridge Island School District, a position she's held since 2016. She's worked in several other school districts, including North Kitsap School District, where she worked from 1999-2007.

Nerison has served as superintendent of Kalama School District since 2015. He previously worked in the South Whidbey School District for 15 years and taught in the North Kitsap School District for five years.

Crawford is currently the interim senior director of high school academics for Portland Public Schools. A former teacher in the Puyallup and Pullman school districts, Crawford worked as an assistant superintendent for Federal Way Public Schools from 2010-2020.

Donna Dearin-Colosky is serving as interim superintendent for Bremerton School District for the 2023-23 school year. She was appointed in June 2022 after former Bremerton superintendent Aaron Leavell departed to become the superintendent of Olympic Educational Service District 114.
