Brent Budowsky, columnist for The Hill, dies

Brent J. Budowsky, a columnist for The Hill, passed away peacefully on July 23 after a short illness.

Budowsky was born on Feb. 28, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York to his father, Murray Budowsky an insurance executive and estate planner and his mother, Miriam Richman, a school teacher. He was 71.

Budowsky is survived by his brother Eric (Marcia), his niece Melissa (Mark) and grand nephew Asher. He is also survived by the long-term love of his life, Delyth Meredith Jones and his many friends. Budowsky was raised on Long Island and graduated from Seaford High School and George Washington University. He received a J.D. from the Columbus School of Law of Catholic University and an LLM from the London School of Economics

For many years, Budowsky was a legislative assistant to Texas senator and former Democratic vice presidential nominee Lloyd Bentsen.

Budowsky had been an opinion columnist for The Hill.com for more than a decade.

There will be a Celebration of Budowsky’s life on Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. at the Michigan Park Christian Church located at 1600 Taylor Street, N.E. In Washington D.C. and all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
