Brenton Williams, 3-star edge from Opelika, commits to Auburn football

AUBURN — Three-star edge Brenton Williams has committed to playing for Auburn football, he announced Sunday morning.

Williams, an Opelika High School football player, is ranked as the No. 1,260 recruit in the class of 2023 in 247Sports' composite rankings. He's tabbed as the No. 104 edge nationally, and the 47th-best player overall in the state of Alabama.

"Committed to HOME," Williams said through Twitter.

Williams, who is listed at 6-foot-4, 245 pounds, is the 13th recruit to join the class of 2023 and the second player listed as an edge. The early signing period, when these commitments can put pen to paper, begins Dec. 21.

He received offers from programs such as Penn State, Michigan State and Missouri, among others, before choosing the Tigers. Special teams coordinator and linebackers/edge coach Roc Bellantoni was listed by 247 as Williams' lead recruiter.
