  • Bret Michaels was hospitalized minutes before he was set to perform in Nashville on Thursday as a part of Motley Crue’s Stadium Tour.

  • The Poison frontman joins the tour alongside Def Leppard and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

  • The rocker apologized to fans in a statement, explaining that he experienced “an unforeseen medical complication” and hopes to be back on his feet soon.

Nashville rock fans are sending well wishes to Poison frontman Bret Michaels, who was rushed to the hospital minutes before his scheduled performance in the Music City on Thursday. The show was a stop on Motley Crue’s 2022 Stadium Tour featuring Poison, Def Leppard, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

Michaels’ bandmates took the stage to break the news, according to People, and some fans who attended say they reported he had bad reaction to medication, but Michaels has not confirmed that information.

He did, however, apologize for his abrupt absence on Instagram. “To all of the incredible fans in Nashville, thank you for all your well wishes!!” he wrote in a statement. “I was truly fired up to get on stage in the Music City and perform, but due to an unforeseen medical complication & following hospitalization, it was not possible. I send my deepest apologies for being unable to rock the stage tonight!!! I’m working on being back 100% very soon & hope you rocked hard with my friends Motley/Leppard/Joan and Classless Act!!!”

Fans continued to send their love in the comments. “Definitely missed you!” one person commented. “Get well soon Bret! 🤘” another added. “Sending positive vibes and prayers 🙏🏻🎤🙏🏻🎸🤘🏻,” someone else wrote.

The 59-year-old has experienced a plethora of health issues throughout his life, beginning with his type 1 diabetes diagnosis at age 6. Furthermore, he suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2010, and the 10th anniversary of the life-changing event ironically fell on the day he was revealed as the banana on The Masked Singer.

“This is the roses and thorns of my life,” he told People in 2020. “I’m so grateful. I celebrate the anniversary as being on the good side of the dirt and surviving. I don’t ever celebrate the brain hemorrhage. But how ironic that it is literally 10 years to the moment when the show airs, it was airing at the exact time that they were operating at night on my brain.”

In 2011, the reality star underwent surgery to repair a hole in his heart after having a mini-stroke. “It was one thing after another,” he told People after the operation. “It was like, ‘What next?’”

Clearly, Michaels is a fighter who has endured some serious challenges. And if his recent statement is of any indication, he’s not backing down now.
