The list has been narrowed down from 33 applications for superintendent to 11 semifinalists for the job.

The district also officially appointed assistant superintendent Sue Hann as an acting superintendent on Tuesday after the board voted unanimously to place its interim superintendent on paid leave after staff complaints.

Superintendent candidates will need to field questions from school board members and have been asked to submit videos as part of the final selection process.

“Right now, there’s about seven other school districts that are open, so you’re going to see less applicants because many people are choosing which ones to apply for, School Board Chairperson Matt Susin said.

Brevard Public Schools have been without a permanent superintendent since December.

The School Board will hold a special meeting on April 18 to determine the superintendent finalists ahead of in-person interviews on April 27 and 28.
