Brevard remembers the homeless who died in 2023

Thursday night was the Winter Solstice and the longest night of the year.

And it is no coincidence that concept of a long cold night would also represent Homeless Persons Memorial Day.

In ceremonies across Brevard, officials and residents remembered the homeless members of our community who died in 2023.

One such ceremony was held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Melbourne where an emotional Jeffery Njus, executive director of Daily Bread, told the story of the last time he talked to one of the people who died this year.
