New brewery plans launch via equity crowdfunding

A new brewery wants to launch in the tourist district of Orlando in 2023.

Bear Hug Brewing recently closed an equity round of $400,000 in December via seven investors, according to U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission documents. The brewery has yet to announce a location, but its website says it wants to open this year.

Why this matters: New breweries can add jobs as well as opportunities for contractors and suppliers.

According to the company’s business plan, Seth Hunter and Sean Flynn noticed a lack of breweries near Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, which spurred their interest in creating the company. The pair have a combined 20 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, and are being advised by breweries in New York.
